Among the popular US religious festivals, the X-Day (Church of the SubGenius), Sherman, New York Brushwood Folklore Center is celebrated on the 5th of July every year. X-Day is a part of the mythology of the satirical Church of the SubGenius. It is an organization created as a parody of cults and extreme religious groups.
In the year 1980, the Church of the SubGenius had prophesied that an army of alien invaders would land on Earth and destroy the world of “normals”, “pinks”, and “glorps”. It was also mentioned that the people of the Church of the SubGenius would be rescued by the aliens and taken away to space.
However, when on July 5th, 1998, no alien fleet appeared in the sky, the members of the Church explained that the end of the world did not happen. According to the Church, X-Day will actually take place in the year 8661 and since then on every 5th July, the X-day festival takes place. On this day, the Church waits for the arrival of the anticipated alien names, “Sex Goddesses.”
One of the topmost US religious festivals is the Xfest NW, Stevenson, Washington Skamania County Fairgrounds. The Xfest is held in the Skamania County Fairgrounds near Oregon. The people worship God by allowing independent bands to perform. One will find coffee shop, kids’ playground, total 3 stages, hip-hop, punk, hard rock and electronica.
