Will Favre Actually Improve the Vikings?

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

It’s amazing. Just when he was officially retired once again, Brett Favre “un-retired”, agreeing to come back to Minnesota for two more years of football. This move is getting all kinds of media attention and generating excitement in Minnesota, but I really don’t see the big deal.

Favre will be 40 in October. How many quarterbacks lead their teams to Super Bowls at 40. He’s as durable as they come and he’s showed great longevity through his career, but still…

Ravens Maul Redskins In NFL Preseason Rivalry Matchup

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

The Baltimore Ravens are clearly responding to first year defensive coordinator Greg Mattison. In Mattisons debut as an NFL coordinator the Ravens obliterated their regional rivals the Washington Redskins, completing a shutout by a final score of 23-0. QB Joe Flacco looked solid in his short night of action, but the star of the game was the Ravens stop unit who looked to be in regular season form already.

15 different players caught passes and after the game backup QB Troy Smith said that Ravens signal callers had been instructed to get as many players involved in the offense as possible:

Patriots Beat Eagles With Tom Brady Back In The Lineup

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

Tom Brady returned to NFL action and looked good in limited playing time as the New England Patriots opened their preseason schedule with a 27-25 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. He completed 10 of 15 passes for 100 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

The Patriots also rewarded their NFL preseason financial backers by winning outright as a +2 road underdog. The combined 52 points scored shattered the posted total of 32 for an easy OVER.

Bradys solid play was no doubt a heartening sight to Patriots fans, though the superstar QB had little to say after the game on the specifics on his performance:
