Objectives
The primary objective of the Link exchange team is to generate Traffic at our web site through hyper links in the form of either Text or Banner links.
The secondary objective is to get good search engine rankings for our set of keywords .Most search engines gives more importance to pages that have links pointing to that web site ( Inbound links) More the links in the world wide web , more the popularity of that web site and better the search engine rankings . This is the reason why CNN is more popular than rediff.com
Link Exchange: How they work
These objectives work in two ways
-People click on the link of your web site while they are visiting other websites.
-Top search engines such as google rank web sites in their database by calculating how many links they have from other related web sites.
-The links need to be targeted to other web sites that have relevant content, or in other words similar subject as your own site .And they need to be reciprocal, which means you link to them and vice versa.
Link Exchange Campaign
What do we do :
We approach web sites that are relevant and complementary to our content, without being competing in nature, identify the webmasters of that site and ask them for link exchange, outlining them the benefits of such an arrangement.
For example if a site has birthday ecards in its services, we approach web sites which deal with birthday supplies, birthday gifts or birthday cakes/balloons.
The theme of the page in question has to match with the web site with which we are approaching for a link exchange.
The Process
Research
First of all we research the internet to find web sites. Then type your main search keywords at search engines where you would want to approach and look through the results for other web sites that are of similar content – complimentary but not competitive .
Check Content
Visit the web site and check if the content could be of value to visitors at our site. Thumb rule: Content is the king. Check if the site has link page on them. Only approach site with a link page. A site without a link page means that the Webmaster has no interest in reciprocal links.
Email The Webmaster
Email the owner and tell them you visited their site (It makes sense to let them know how you have found their web site, name specific search engines by which you have tracked down their web site) let them know that we have a web site of similar content and you would like to exchange links Always mention the exact url where you want our link to be placed (usually their link page) and where you would add their link. (Our link pages)
Link Addition
Once the site mails us back and adds a hyper link to our web site, our technical team adds a link back to their site.
This is a reciprocal link exchange. Visitors can then enter each others site by clicking on the link, thus increasing the reach and the traffic of respective web sites.
Searching for Link pages :
If you want to find birthday sites with link pages:
Type Birthday + Links
Scroll the results, check out the web sites and you will see birthday related links in their pages. Check out the links, find out if it’s relevant to the keyword you are searching and then proceed to mail the webmaster of that site.
