When Milton Berle died in 2002, few of the media that reported on his passing even began to fathom the enormity of his impact. In most publications, Berle received less ink than British comedy actor Dudley Moore and director Billy Wilder. While both men were certainly talented and worthy of eulogizing, to suggest that they left a legacy even comparable to Berle’s is absurd and demonstrates a complete ignorance of entertainment history.
Tag lines can teach you everything you need to know. Not only are they the pithy currency of would-be screenwriters and filmmakers alike, but they are semi-clever marketing slogans. That being said, I must say the tag line for BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA is actually dead on. Watching the film (or better yet, reading the book) will indeed help you discover a place that will never leave you, and a friendship that will change you forever. True enough — and well said.
