The journey is just beginning for pop sensation Mika. Born in 1983 in Lebanon as Michael Holbrook Penniman, singer songwriter Mika only began his rise to fame in 2007 just two short years ago. Gaining more fame in the European market than in the US Mika is a unique individual who culminates his personal experiences and cultural stereotypes and mores into his work to provide some insight and a huge amount of perspective to his work.
Mika creates art in the form of music. His songs go beneath the surface, while providing upbeat music with a fun sound. This can been seen in songs such as “Billy Brown” where he sings about cheating and homo/hetero sexualities; as well as in a song that was written about his mother and her struggles as a heavy women, entitled “Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)”.
In 2007 Mika wowed critics with his debut album “Life In Motion”. Many compared him to great music legends such as Elton John and Freddie Mercury (to name a few). They believed he was destined for greatness in the music industry and are now counting the days until they get another dose of what Mika has to offer, in his second album, which is soon to hit shelves.
This next album is called The Boy Who Knew Too Much and is set to be released on September 21, 2009, and is said to function as a continuation of Life In Motion documenting more of his life experiences perhaps more in his teens than in actual childhood.
On September 6th, the first track of the album “We Are Golden” will be released as a single online and in stores, but you can catch it sooner as it has already been released for radio. The sound is style is exactly what fans have come to expect from Mika, and has fans even more anxious for the full album release.
