Title of the Year: Dejobaan’s AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!!

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Now, for the sake of clarity, we should explain what we mean when we say “title of the year”. Dejobaan’s upcoming BASE jumping simulator, which resembles a mash-up of Mirror’s Edge and Pilotwings (check out a gameplay demo after the jump), doesn’t really look like GOTY material (or GOTW material, for that matter). However, the game’s moniker is pure brilliance: AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! — A Reckless Disregard for Gravity. The game’s designers suggest that the press truncate the title to a mere Aaaaa! but we won’t be doing that.

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Wizard Magazine completely spoils Sony Online Entertainment’s fun, outing comic book legend Marv Wolfman as the new DC Universe Online creative talent a week before the big reveal at the New York Comic Con.

Sitting on the edge of our seats we eagerly awaited next weekend, when Sony Online Entertainment would reveal the comic book talent joining Jim Lee and Geoff Johns, already working on the massively-multiplayer online superhero game. Then the guys at Big Download tapped us on the shoulder and handed us the latest copy of the comic book magazine Wizard, which pretty much ruined everything for us.

The latest issue of Wizard magazine (via BigDownload) has let the Black Cat out of the bag: writer Marv Wolfman will be enlisting with previously revealed comic veterans Geoff Jones and Jim Lee and the rest of Sony Online.

Some details scared up on next Resident Evil movie

Friday, January 30th, 2009

If the sweeping epic of Resident Evil: Extinction had you chomping at the neck for another installment, JoBlo.com has some details from a “very reliable source” about the fourth film in the franchise. Auteur Paul (insert consonants here) Anderson has written the screenplay, but won’t direct. The screenplay is more like RE2 (the film), but with, ahem … “better dialogue.” There’s speculation that they may need to bring in a martial arts choreographer for all the hand-to-hand combat. Finally, Extinction’s creature effects guy is back, with Jurassic Park 3’s special FX supervisor coming on board.
